Many times, whether we’re followers of God or people looking in from the outside, we try to figure out who God is and what God is like. This is an important quest. A Christian philosopher named A.W. Tozer famously said that the most important thing about a person is what that person thinks about God.

This quest is not easy. There are some things we need to add to our understanding of God. But there are also some things that we need to cast off and strip away so that we can see God as He really is.

In this series, we’re going to explore six statements from Scripture that tell us what God is not. Theologians call this the via negativa, the way of understanding God by learning what He is not. And as we go on this journey, we will encounter God as He really is.
