Lovevolution :: when love goes full circle

THE HEARTBEAT OF LOVEVOLUTION
What is love? In our society today, we seem to have lost the real meaning of love. We talk about falling in and out of love, as if it’s just passing feeling. We use the word flippantly, or we refuse to use it at all. It seems as though love is a word that doesn’t really mean anything anymore.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. Love is actually a revolution, a movement that has already been sparked and is already happening all around us. So the question isn’t what love is — it’s whether we will join the Lovevolution. ABOUT THE ART
The most radical revolutionary will become a conservative the day after the revolution. --Hannah Arendt
Revolution is not a one-time event.
--Audre Lorde
The problem with loving conservatively is that it is just that: loving conservatively. I don’t know where we get or why we tolerate such a silly idea as conservative love anyway. The love given to us is aggressive, tender, confrontational, warm, and backed by righteousness. It is the kind of love that can overthrow nations, topple governments, bring strong men to their knees, give birth to hope, and rebuild a broken spirit. It is the kind of love that is revolutionary. How do we forget so fast? After all, revolution is not a one-time event, and neither is love… ![]() SESSION OUTLINE
Session One
Devolve
1 Corinthians 13:1-3
As we begin the Lovevolution and watch love go full circle in our lives, we begin with the reality that love is necessary. Paul reminds us that without love, nothing we do – not our good works or acts of service or knowledge or anything else we do – is gain.
Session Two
Evolve
Matthew 26:6-13
As we continue watching the Lovevolution come full circle, we see how love evolves to the point where we realize that love is sacrifice. As we see a woman pour out perfume on Jesus, we realize that love of Jesus requires us to make sacrificial public displays of affection as well.
Session Three
Revolve
Jonah 1-3
The Lovevolution revolves and continues to move full circle, and we discover the unbelievable truth that love is grace. As we watch God speak to Jonah a second time, we realize that God also shows love to us again and again and again.
Session Four
Involve
Luke 5:17-26
The Lovevolution comes full circle as we see how the necessity, sacrifice, and grace of love combine in a way that gets us involved. We see that this Lovevolution requires us to go, much as the friends in this passage moved to take their friend to Jesus, because love is movement.
